Jamie Shi (b.1995, China) is a painter based in Berlin. Their practice is grounded in the rigor of image making process from traditions of oil painting. Shi is interested in the tension between imagination and reality, narrative and emotive, archetype and reinvention derived form painting history, with a deep consideration towards figurative representations and their potential to reveal the complex psychological states of being.
Their work has shown internatinally, such as the Sotheby’s NYC, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, and Deutsches Filmmuseum, Frankfurt am Main.
